Did
you know that 1 in 10 of your employees is likely to be dyslexic?
The
Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) states that reasonable
adjustments MUST be made.
Despite
the highly advertised difficulties of dyslexia, the dyslexic may also
possess positive and valuable qualities: creativity, originality and
an ability to think outside the box - qualities your organisation needs.
The Adult Dyslexia Centre is a registered charity set up to promote
the positive aspects of dyslexia and help individuals overcome those
negative aspects that can create problems in all areas of life and often
in the workplace, which can cause stress and absenteeism.
The
Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) states that reasonable adjustments
must be made to accommodate a disabled employee. Dyslexia
counts as a disability under the Act. Employers need to know what
is required of them by law and employees need to understand what can
be done to help them maximise their contribution and value to their
company.
